About Our Movement
One Shot, One Story is a youth-led digital movement dedicated to raising awareness about gun violence in America through powerful storytelling. By sharing real, often-overlooked stories, we humanize the issue and inspire action.
Our Mission
Gun Violence is a National Crisis.
In America, 125 people are shot and killed every single day, and over 40,000 lives are lost to gun violence every year. All of us have been affected by gun violence, whether we realize it or not - we’ve grown up on lockdown drills and seen the headlines of shootings across the country. Gun violence is now the leading cause of death for our generation of youth, which is why we especially need to speak up about it.
Who we are
After our team’s personal experiences with two mall shootings and several conversations with other survivors and families impacted by gun violence, One Shot, One Story was born to turn an epidemic disproportionately affecting youth into a youth-led movement. One Shot, One Story is a registered 501(c)(3) youth-led nonprofit mobilizing youth to confront gun violence through storytelling and action.
Our Mission: To humanize the gun violence epidemic in America by sharing real, often-overlooked stories and inspiring youth-led action. We envision a future where stories spark empathy, empathy drives advocacy, and advocacy leads to safer communities.
What We Do
Our approach combines digital storytelling, community organizing, and innovative solutions to address gun violence from multiple angles.
Digital Storytelling
We create short-form videos sharing stories of those affected by gun violence, putting a human face to statistics and inspiring empathy and action.
Memorial Map
Our interactive memorial map honors lives lost to gun violence and helps visualize the nationwide impact while preserving personal stories.
Advocacy Work
We advocate for evidence-based policies that reduce gun violence while respecting rights, focusing on common-sense safety measures.
SafeLock Technology
We've developed an innovative smart gun lock to prevent unauthorized access to firearms, especially protecting children and teens.
