2026 Summer Internship

The One Shot, One Story (OSOS) internship will be an 8-week program, with five sessions from June 17th to August 5th. Recordings will be sent out after each meeting and sessions will be flexible to each intern’s schedule! This internship is an excellent opportunity for those interested in law, politics, public service, and gun violence prevention.

Leadership Opportunity

Interns will be fully equipped to take on leadership roles on the OSOS National Team through our inaugural fellows program or as a Chapter Founder & Leader.

Internship Subgroups

Policy & Advocacy

Meet with and lobby real legislators, research current gun violence prevention policies, host phone banking and tabling events, and build campaigns that deliver real impact.

Journalism & Content

Write compelling op-eds, manage and contribute to the OSOS blog, and help run the OSOS podcast—sharing deep insights and stories from victims and industry experts.

Marketing & Fundraising

Manage social media campaigns, develop graphic design skills, amplify victims’ stories, scale our message to a national audience, apply for government grants, and host fundraising events to raise money for victims’ families and free gun lock distributions.

Join our volunteer community to create tangible change through storytelling, advocacy, and community action.

Write Blogs

Volunteer Hours: 1 hour per blog
  • Amplify stories and interventions that inspire action to save lives
  • Strengthen your writing & research skills while learning about an important social issue that affects all of us
  • Earn service hours and recognition for your contributions (Author of the Month, PVSA, etc.)

Phone Banking

Volunteer Hours: 3 Calls = 1 Service Hour
  • Engage with voters to raise awareness about upcoming bills and encourage civic action
  • Speak directly with legislators to make direct impact on policy changes
  • Bills and scripts provided to make advocacy easy!

Make Bracelets to Honor Victims

Volunteer Hours: 4 Bracelets = 1 Service Hour
  • Create bracelets that honor victims and support memorial and fundraising efforts.
  • Help at bracelet-making events or donation drives

Events

Volunteer Hours: 1-5 hours
  • Help set up and tear down booths, signage, and materials
  • Distribute flyers, suicide-prevention resources, free gun locks, etc.
  • Engage community members in conversation about our mission

Do I need experience in advocacy to get involved?

Not at all! We welcome people of all experience levels. We provide training and support to help you develop your advocacy skills.

Can I remain anonymous when sharing my story?

Yes, you have complete control over how much you share and can choose to remain anonymous while still making an impact.

How much time commitment is required?

We have opportunities for various time commitments, from a few hours a month to more intensive involvement. You choose what works for you.

What if there isn't a chapter in my state?

You can help us start one! We provide comprehensive support for establishing new chapters, including training and initial funding.
